Gümüşhane University is one of the public state universities located in the city of Gümüşhane. It was established on May 31, 2008, following the separation of the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the Gümüşhane Health High School, and some vocational schools, as well as several institutes and faculties that were previously affiliated with Atatürk University. On April 26, 2013, the name of the Faculty of Engineering was changed to the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Additionally, the Higher School of Tourism and Hotel Services was closed and replaced by the Faculty of Tourism. Since then, the university has been continuously growing. Currently, the academic structure of the university includes 6 faculties, 3 institutes, 2 higher education institutes, 8 vocational schools, and 5 research and application centers. The language of instruction at the university is Turkish.
