Hacettepe University is one of the public universities located in the capital, Ankara. Initially, Hacettepe University was established as part of Ankara University in 1954. The foundation of the university was laid with the opening of the Child Health Institute and a private hospital in 1957, which began its activities and training in 1958. The university expanded, and several faculties were opened. It was officially declared as an independent university on July 8, 1967.

Hacettepe University has two campuses: the first is located in the old town of Ankara and hosts the medical center; the second is the Hacettepe Campus, located 13 kilometers from the city center, covering 210,238 square meters of green land and forests. This campus includes the faculties of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Literature, and Science.

Hacettepe University is considered one of the best universities in Turkey. It comprises 14 different faculties, in addition to 14 institutes, 2 schools, 6 vocational schools, and 92 research and application centers. As of 2013, the university had around 38,000 students and approximately 3,580 staff members.
